Short term, safe housing is available to women and their children who are fleeing an abusive relationship. In the past year, several hundred women and children received emergency shelter services from The Women’s Centre Grey Bruce Inc.
Women and their children can temporarily reside in a safer and accessible facility in one of eight bedrooms. The kitchen, recreational areas, large fenced yard and laundry facilities are shared. Program staff and a cook prepare meals and residents share household chores. The home is fully furnished and can meet a range of special needs. Toiletries, meals and other basics are provided for women and children during their stay.
Women and their children receive help from trained female staff twenty-four hours per day, for up to several weeks. Our staff is available to provide understanding support, information and referrals to other community resources such as legal assistance.
